ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system is evolved from OHSAS18001 occupational health and safety management system. This new standard is designed to help organizations around the world ensure the health and safety of their workers.
ISO 45001 is drafted by iso/pc 283 occupational health and safety management system project committee. The committee is composed of 69 full members (including sac of China National Standardization Committee and relevant institutions in Britain, the United States, Germany, France and other countries) and 16 observation members. Representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Institutionof occupational safety and health (IOSH) and other organizations also participated in the standard discussion.

The new standard recognizes the value of employees’ attention to the development of better occupational health and safety measures, and pays more attention to employees’ active participation in the formulation, planning, implementation and continuous improvement of the occupational health and safety management system.
Top management must play an active role in promoting positive culture and communication, and more importantly, recognize why it is important. Senior leaders need to demonstrate their active participation and take steps to integrate the occupational health and safety management system into the overall business process. Richardjones said, “iso45001 means paying more attention to leadership and employee participation, and ensuring that the system takes into account the ‘world’ of the organization’s operations and the internal and external factors (called the environment) that affect the organization’s operations.” this means that the top management must play an obvious guiding role, actively participate in the implementation of the system, and ensure that its system is integrated with other business systems.
